Zehra Bayazıt
To imagine is everything. In the places where freedom does not exist, it is the main resistance.
Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Ankara University, in 1979. Completed her doctorate as an Orthodontics Specialist in 1985.
Her true encounter with art began in 1988 at the Orhan Çetinkaya Studio, continuing at the Lütfü Günay Studio between 1990–1993. From 1994 to 1996 she attended master's-level studio and theory courses at the Fine Arts faculties of Hacettepe and Bilkent Universities: Sociology of Art with Prof. Zafer Gençaydın, Art Criticism I–II with Kaya Özsezgin, and Printmaking with Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Dökak. In 1995 she worked with the artist Vahap Avşar on drawing, mark-making and composition. Between 1997–1998 she continued at the Serap Demirağ Studio.
Into the Third Dimension Adding another dimension to her painting, she moved into sculpture at the Sait Rüstem Studio. In 2002 she discovered clay (earth / pottery) at the studio of Prof. Ahmad Nejafi Özsalar. In 2012 Füsun Kavalcı introduced her to glaze. Since 2004 she has worked in stone at the Nautilus Art Studio alongside her friend, the sculptor Çıdam Melek.
The artist continues to work in both two and three dimensions. To date she has held four solo and eight group painting/sculpture exhibitions. She believes art frees the mind, provokes thought and endlessly nourishes the imagination.
